Classes

Here are the classes that Bay City Ballet offers!

PRE-BALLET (3-4) Stretch, leap, and twirl in a class where the youngest of dancers can get off on the right foot. Rhythm and music games make it fun to learn dance!

BALLET I (5-7) Introduction to warm-up and basic barre work leads this group of dancers into a wonderful world of learning complex steps and coordination exercises.

BALLET II (8-9) This class is a continuation of Ballet I, adding more complex steps with turning, jumping, and control.

BEGINNING POINTE (Level Appropriate) This is every little girl’s dream. Introduction to the art of pointe work is an extension of proper ballet technique. Enrollment in two technique classes per week is required to maintain body alignment and placement to begin pointe work.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED POINTE (Level Appropriate) A continuation of pointe education focusing on strength and flexibility in the ankles and feet. Solo and Pas De Deux work is introduced at this level.

TAP/JAZZ This is the grandfather of all dance training in America. These forms of dance, made popular in the early 20th Century, is the cornerstone of all Broadway Theater Dance.

CONTEMPORARY LYRICAL This form of dance has become an extension mesh of both ballet and classical modern. Using current music the dancers express themselves using a free-er form of movement.

MUSICAL THEATER FRIDAYS This exciting class for all ages focuses on the art of Musical Theater. We cover vocal training, warm-ups, staging age appropriate Broadway sections from Annie, Oliver, Wicked, Hairspray, and A Chorus Line. This class learns solos, duets, and chorus numbers that can be used in the future for auditions and talent shows alike!

ZUMBA! This form of Latin Dance Sensation is the hottest wave of Dance Exercise sweeping the nation. Using simple Latin moves and passionate music you can samba, sleepy leg, or salsa your way to a slimmer trimmer you!
